Yes they do which means either the boys from Crokes or Peter Crowley will have a tough decision.

I doubt the decision will be that tough a one to be honest.

It's fairly remarkable that they're able to have a presentation of the 1911 team Sure they're Cork people, they can do anything!!!!!! I remember the programme of the 1991 Munster Football semi-final in Killarney. Think I have it somewhere. It featured a photo of the Cork team with the heading" All Ireland Champions 1991". And happily we all know how that worked out .... ;D ;D ;D

I don't have that programme for some reason, even though it was the first big Kerry Cork Championship match I was at. I had been to a league meeting between the two a few months earlier alright when there was a big brawl. Kerry won that day too.

Is it true that UCC have Shane Enright for the year ahead? I think he played in the 2010 Sigerson final when they were beaten by DCU.

I was interested in that photograph of the 1969 winning UCC team. I was living in Cork at the time and while, inevitably, I was at the match I cannot recall any detail from it. Indeed, until I saw the photograph I would have thought that Billy Morgan and Mick Fleming were on the team but obviously they had graduated at that stage.
Eric Philpott was a skillful, left footed wing forward from St. Finbarrs. He was on the Cork team beaten in the 1967 final.
Ray Cummins from Blackrock/St. Michaels was a genuine star in both codes at full forward. He won senior medals in both codes. Ray and his brother, Brendan, opened a sports shop in Cork back around that time. It was probably the first one outside of Dublin. I am not sure if it still exists. It was located in Princess Street.
Christy O'Sullivan from Finuge was the captain, playing at corner back. Won an NFL in 1969. Christy and his brothers Tom and Timmy were the backbone of the Finuge team back then. Tom played a few games for Kerry and Timmy may also have played for Kerry, certainly at junior level. Their father played for Kerry back in the 1920's. Black cat, black kitten!
Brendan Lynch from Beaufort won senior medals in 1969, 1970 and 1975 at wing forward. He was a great piece of stuff. Brendan was a breath of fresh air when he came on the Kerry scene because we had a dearth of natural forwards at that time. He was joined at UCC the following year by brother Paudie. Paudie was a more complete footballer, one of the best I have seen.
Simon Murphy from Blackrock/St. Michaels was a dual player and won at least one senior hurling medal with Cork.
Moss Keane needs no introduction.
Mick Power may have been from Waterford.
John O'Halloran from Blackrock/St. Michaels was better known as hurler, winning a senior medal in 1966 and possibly in 1970. He was a powerful forty yards man. I remember a hurling match between Blackrock and Glen Rovers which has endured in the memory because of its savagery. John's direct opponent was a Cork team mate who had little interest in playing hurling that evening, rather he was more inclined to enhance his "hard man" image. Suffice to say, John O'Halloran, under extreme provocation, put a severe dint in that "hard man image". Thankfully, that is very often the fate of the "hard man". John is the owner of a thriving tutorial school in Limerick.
Seamus Looney from St. Finabarrs was another dual player. He certainly won a senior medal or two with the hurlers but I think he missed out on the 1973 football victory.
Mick Morris was a powerhouse corner back from John Mitchells. He won his senior medal in 1969, having been a rock for Kerry in the lean years from 1963 to 1968. I regarded him very highly. I remember one match in Croke Park, not sure of the occasion ,when Kerry were being well beaten but Mick took over an area around his left corner birth and he defiantly won everything that dropped in his vicinity. He was an international golfer of quality.
Pat Doherty from the St. Nicholas club was as far as I can recall born in Limerick. I am not sure if he played for Cork or Limerick or perhaps both at different stages.
Jim Carroll, the goalie, has completely jumped from the memory.
Jim Coughlan from Beaufort played in the full back line and played all grades for Kerry. I don't think he won a medal with Kerry. Jim died at a fairly young age.
Dan Kavanagh from Dr. Crokes was another very strong player and was exceptionally good in the air. He played in the unsuccessful 1972 final and replay against Offaly. His brother Sean was later to play with UCC.
Ted Murphy was a half back from the Bantry/Glengarriff area if my memory serves me correctly. He probably won minor and u21 medals with Cork. I am not sure if he made the senior team.

Veteran.
Moss Keanes marvellous book (written with Billy Keane) dwells on that period in Moss Keanes life in UCC extensively. Get it before it goes out of print.

Vetern,
You are correct in saying that Pat O'Doherty's crew came from Limerick but they played with Glen Rovers. Although Paddy won both a Sigerson and a Fitzgibbon, I am of the understanding that he never played at inter-county. The sons and daughters of their Donegal-born father who moved from Limerick would all consider themselves Cork men and women.

What a win for UCC written off to the hilt... Great day for clubs in kerry like Crokes, Glenbeigh, Na Gaeil , Ballymac, Dingle, Currow Kenmare, Laune Rangers. It was great to see the lesser clubs getting the chance to lift a senior county title. Currow was represented by Moss Keane in 1963 when UCC last did the double and this time Dan O Shea ( Currow) was there likewise I'm sure there is other connections like Brendan Lynch etc - History books are repeating themselves..

Congrats to our Kerry lads who triumphed last weekend, especially my clubmen Johnny Buckley and Daithi Casey. Daithi Casey's interview after was something special, its not often you hear a young fella talk as gaeilge in these times unless they're from a ghaeltacht area.

I presume Daithi Casey and Johnny Buckley will play for Crokes in this series.
Hope Crokes can make a burst for the All Ireland this time.

Yes they will play for Crokes and would say that they have a great chance of winning Munster at the very least. No Nemo this year and would not think UCC will be in the same class.

so they are not allowed to play for 2 teams? i was thinking they could, just the choice would have to be made if they met.

so they are not allowed to play for 2 teams? i was thinking they could, just the choice would have to be made if they met. Kinda difficult ( even for Kerrymen) to be in 2 places at one time!!! Next Sunday its 1.Ballinacourty v Crokes @ Waterford venue. 2.UCC v Monaleen @ Cork venue. Winners of 1 v Kilmurry Ibrickane on Nov 20th Winners of 2 v Moyle Rovers on Nov 20th Final Dec 4th. Plenty of bananaskins there for ambitious Club teams...

I believe that he had an operation a couple of months and has not played recently. Moyle rovers play Thomas McDonaghs (An amalgamation) on Sunday next in the Tipperary county final.
They will be representing Tipperary even though they lost the South Tipperary final and might lose on Sunday next.

What ye make of UCC's chances of progressing in Munster. It is a big blow to lose Casey and Buckley. Gavan O'Grady will come in for Casey and isnt a bad replacement. They might struggle big time at midfield without Buckley there. I can see an interesting Munster Final between Crokes and UCC if everything goes to plan.
