Looks like the media hype surrounding crokes got to them again. Exactly all the news the opposition wanted for motivation

Yes it would be a disaster for most other clubs but I also think crokes have enough firepower not to miss him in the club championship....however if they have ambitions of winning the county championship they would want to get him back quickly!! On the point of him not nailing down a first fifteen spot..this is totally untrue...jamie told the management that he would not be available for selection until he returned from america and he was going playing soccer until he departed! Jamie did not start last year in the county championship semi final or final because he had just arrived home from the states and the team were winning every game with everyone playing well......now this takes us to a similar point on the KY minor thread....how can u play a player when firstly he was away all summer and had not been training and also change a team that is winning by massive margins....the thing is u cannot because it will disrupt anyone and everyone in the camp....this is the sole reason why jamie was not startin last year! Straight away after county championship Jamie nailed down his spot in the O'Donoghue cup and was man of the match in 2 out of the 3 games he played and gave the final a close shave also! Hugh20 you are not still harping on about Jamie Doolan and his trip to the states are you? p.s it was U21 thread not minor Ill have u know it was the ky minor thread and not the u21s....the argument was that Pat Driscoll could not play sem lads when they had not been playing due to hogan cup commitments with their college and this is in comparison to crokes manager Harry O'Neill not playing Jamie Doolan!!! On the actual crokes v stacks game....fair play to stacks,I honestly couldnt see them winning this one but they deserved it! Referee was very poor saying that he was poor for both sides....Gooch was a big loss for crokes but u can only play with what u are dealt....I attended a crokes training session prior to the stacks game and gooch was training so I thought he would definitely be playing but he was obviously advised otherwise!! It is going to be close now to see who wins it out...whoever does will be representing kerry because at the moment there is no club side good enough to win the co.championship!!

Highlights of Austin Stacks vs Dr. Crokes Apologies in advance for some of the language on the video plus for the heads in the way for the most of the game. Facilities were a little lacking in Connolly Park plus there were some decidedly unhelpful individuals on the touchlines

Crokes will always b under pressure this year after their county championship campaign last year.. Harry O'Neill? Not sure bout his managerial skills will b able to guide crokes to anything other than a county league this year.. Crokes have one of the best panels in munster if not ireland but need a good head on the sideline. I think Kerins O'Rahillys have great chance of doin ghreat things this year on their performance aginst Dingle. They lacked the young legs in County Championship last year but have some quality young players starting for them this year. A few players havfe come back too from last years panel and r still awaitin the return of B Moran. M Fitzgerald? Seems to b good man on the line in my opinion but hey this is Kerry anything can happen in chamiponship here.... Stacks-Surprise package for the year worth a bet for club cship..

Yet again Crokes fail in a major competition in Kerry . A lot of people talk about Crokes every year and they never produce the goods they lose a lot of finals and I don't see them winning this year either . They have some good players but some are not as good as people say they are . I am a Stacks man and I will be the first to say we are not that great but we tore into them from to word go and they wilted I think some of their players are lacking heart . I think if teams go after them from the word go in a game they are going to beat them well . Buckley is not Kerry standard no way either is Looney or Moloney . Daithi Casey and Fionn Fitzgerald are prospects for sure . Our players were very good on the night but I don't think we will beat o'Rahilly's .

Thanks for posting the highlights Crokerman.
Daithi Casey is a fine footballer,i think he'll be in with Kery seniors sooner rather than later. If only the kerry U21 management had the sense to play him closer to goal in the munster final, think of the damage he could have done.
Donaghy had a fine game by looking at the highlights, what a 45,whats stopping him doing that for kerry if Sheehan doesnt make the team?
Great win for Stacks.

Daithi Casey stands out I must say; I was very impressed with him in the U21 final too.

Rahillys were full value for their win; opening with the strong breeze to their backs, dominating mid field via Quirke and Moran , BJK scoring 2 pts from play, they led by 0-5 to Nil after 13 mins; a fracas in the middle of the pitch led to dismissal of Collins and John O'Connor ( straight reds ) when 2 intercounty colleagues could easily have seen red also. Stacks seemed to draw strength from this incident while Rahillys seemed to suffer; a Stacks penalty was driven over the bar by Donaghy but they tacked on 2 further points to leave it 0-5 to 0-3 at the interval. Any betting man would have fancied the Rockies to go on and win particularly with the strong wind behind them; on the restart they were into their stride and it was 0-5 apiece after 10 mins; Stacks then pulled ahead by a point , equaliser from Rahillys only for Stacks to edge clear again; again, Rahillys equalised following good work from BJK; ten minutes left and it was all to play for. Surprisingly this was as good as it got for Stacks with David Moran now ruling the skies ably backed up by sub Giles O'Grady and BJK ; a fine point from a free by Mark O'Sullivan followed by a great score from BJK from play put Rahillys firmly in control and even though they kicked another four wides they were comfortable winners.Final score- Rahillys 0-10 Stacks 0-8.

Good win for Strand Road, game played in terrible conditions, Stacks only 2 points down at half time having played into the wind and rain, 1 point up after 5 minutes of second half, with William Kirby running out of steam at midfield for the Rockies, David Moran came into the game, BJ Keane excellent thoughout gave Bohane a tough time of it. hopefully no footage of match or we might be without 2 more county players if the CCCC get hold of it.

Rathmore 0-11 0-09 Laune Rangers
Strange game, dominated for first 40 minutes by the Killorglin team and they led 8pts to 4pts. But two Rathmore substitutions changed the game and they kicked 6 points between then and Rathmore won the game with two late points.

The final of this competition is on Saturday evening at 7 in Fitzgearld's stadium. It will make an interesting contest with Rathmore with a very young and quick set of forwards against an experienced but perhaps ageing Rahilliy's defence. Futher out Rahilly's look to have a serious squad from 8-15 and I imagine would be favourites going into the game. Lost to Annascaul at full strenght I believe last weekend, Rathmore beat Gaeltacht and have had a good run of late. Any predictions for this one?

What time is this game on lads? Seems to be a bit of confusion over the time. Heard Moran could be out alright! If he's half fit i'm sure he will be playing. Big opportunity here for both clubs, especially Rathmore. Don't think they have ever been in this situation before.
Haven't seen Rathmore play in a couple of years, but from what i've heard they are small and very lively up front. Have seen Rahilly's only once this year against Milltown in strand road, and they looked a bit slow and laboured. That was a few months back tho, so i'm sure their fitter now. Anyway best of luck to both teams
Dubes my friend, i don't think guy is from G'guailla, he's only on here making a joke of things to try and ye guys look arrogant and cocky!

Crokes have been the best club side in the championship in the last 5/6 years i think.Only for a truly great South Kerry team no doubt they would have won a few CC.I know KOR did win the Club champ last year but Dr Crokes are still ahead of them, seem to to have an extra edge in the Champioship,i suppose maybe beause they have Colm Cooper with them then on song as he peaks around sept.Rahillys might argue they have county footballers coming back full time now since kerry were knocked out but none of them can match cooper on form

Jesus, thank god for that lads, was actually getting a bit worried there for a bit, can start ignoring his posts now!!! Anyways, Rathmore are building a serious outfit at the moment, lots of really young classy players, they have some cracking players coming up u14 to minor as well, but i think they could be a bit too young/light for this game though, if they all keep interested they will be the team to beat in 2/3 years time, kills me to say!!!

Rahillys experience, size ,and football nous leagues ahead of limited Rathmore. Final score 1-14 to 1-10.Rahillys dominated possession through Moran aided by Quirke, and 2 Barry Johns ran riot up front.Sad to see Tom O'Sullivan unable to cope with pace and movement of BJ Walsh. If Rahillys had scoring boots on,would have been no contest. Paul Murphy best Rathmore player at wing back.lack of variation kickouts, inabilty to move ball quickly to inside line, and cheap turnovers of good possession, major factors in defeat.Rathmore erred in not starting G o Keeffe in midfield, and E.Lawlor needs to be played at 11, with Buckley target man inside.Hard to make case for Rathmore v Mid Kerry, with 8 u21s starting, will need to bulk up, and gain more experience at this level and their management will have to refine their game plan.

Would agree with most of mentorist say's. Some good points. Rathmore's 2 main men i taught were disappointing. Tom as you said had his hands full, BJ Walsh was impressive, i'd like to see giving a chance in National League next year. As far Mahoney, he done alright, but he doesn't let the ball go fast enough, he seems to love carrying the ball into tackles and looking for the hit. Also taught John O Connor was suspended for this game.
On the plus side for Rathmore though, there is great potential there, i was sitting longside a Rathmore man at the game and i couldn't believe how young the team were. They will definately be a team to watch out for in the coming years. Rahilly's experience probably took over the line, had a lot of ball.

Startling lack of comment here on a fantastic and well deserved win by the lads last night, even more pleasing to see the so called "certain players" alluded to in a different thread turn in superb performances. Obviously the Senior Club Championship final is'nt important enough for the regular posters to this forum to pass comment on. John O' Connor served a month suspension for his very harsh sending off in the semi-final

Well done to Rahillys on their win.
Does the same system as last year apply as regards the Munster Club , i.e that Rahillys go on to represent Kerry unless a Club team wins the Co Championship?

Yes. Unless a club side wins the County Championship outright, Rahillys will represent Kerry in the Munster Club Championship. If a club side win the county championship, then they will represent Kerry.

No Mr. Narrie a well deserved win by Rahilly's no doubt about that! The club championship is a fantastic competition and trust me every club team aim's for it at the start of the season. Apparantley the wide count ended up 15-3 to Rahilly's and that say's enough really. We all see games in real time and have a comment, but until one know's the true stats we don't really know what happens on the pitch. Well done Rahilly's for a fantastic win.
