AND HOW DO YOU COME TO THAT CONCLUSION,BE UNDER NO ILLUSION TYRONE ARE MORE THAN CAPABLE OF BEATING KERRY AND TO THINK THEY WONT SCORE OR OUTSCORE YOU WILL BE FATAL,WE KNOW THAT FROM FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE UNFORTUNATLEY

Not to put words in anyone's mouth, but I think the point that is being made is that Kerry's back line is regarded as much better than Dublin's and Kerry aren't likely to give up as many scores as the Dubs. At least that would be my opinion.
But BM is right, Tyrone are capable of beating Kerry. And, Kerry are capable of beating Tyrone. I think it is going to come down to which team has the higher level of fitness and who wants it more.

I think there are two major differences between the encounter in 2003 and this years clash. We have the confidence that comes with being All Ireland champions and we have a managment team of some merit, led by Jack O Connor. In 03, we were led by P O Sé, who was a great motivator but was tactically naive. Jack has added a tougher edge to the side and we can vary our tactics now depending on circumstances... Kerry will win by at LEAST 4 points

Dead on VMAN. Leave Paidi for another post. He has done the KINGDOM proud (nuff said). Sins of the past will not bother us now. Jacko has planned for this game for two years.
Boyz, I can't see us losing this game. We are just too deep. Regardless of who we name as a team, we have too many to spring off the bench. Tyrone can not match us in this department. We are hungry for this one & we won't be denied. I am sick of hearing about how we were given last year's All Ireland. No one outside of the KINGDOM gives us credit for last year's All Ireland. Didn't we beat the team that beat the Ulster team?? We can only spank those who are put in front of us!!!! I realize what happened last year means nothing but WE ARE THE DEFENDING ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONS. Tyrone are a good team, fair play to them they deserved to be there but, popular opinion said they were supposed to be in this game from the get-go. Forget about the fact that they drew against the likes of Cavan along the way, they earned there way to this game. Now they play a real team............. Contrary to popular belief, Tyrone (or Ulster for that matter) did not invent the game of football. KINGDOM ALL-IRELAND FOOTBALL TITLES: 66 ulster all-ireland football titles: 49
I don't care if we go in a ten year drought after this game, I WANT TO WIN THIS ONE. I WANT OUR BOYZ TO GET THE RESPECT THEY DESERVED AFTER LAST YEAR'S THUMPING. A win this year will once again prove that we are the standard for football and will always be. If we can keep these lads motivated, a three or four in the row is not out of the question.
Forgive me for rambling on, I just got done watching the DVD "Kingdom Golden Years". There should be a statue of Mickey Sheehy somewhere in Kerry. All he did was score goals. I was laughing because a cousin of mine came out from Cromane a couple of months ago and was subjected to the Ulster Football "we are the standard" style of thinking. At the pub, a fellow stated that CANAVAN was the best forward to ever lace a pair of shoes. Without beating an eye, the name Mickey Sheehy was mentioned. Also mentioned was that there were atleast ten forwards in KERRY that were better than CANAVAN, including GOOCH. I heard. "Anyone can flop around & take a free". Yer man took a dim view of our opinion.
For all those going to the game, be safe. Have fun and make us proud.
We'll have things covered on this side...........Philadelphia

Good post Laundawg. Feel sorry for all u boys and girls the other side of the pond and everywere alese in the worl. Ahve a few relations in teh states and I know there feeling very homesick this week! You can be sure we'll have a pint for y'all win or lose!!! Your story re that guy saying Canavan is the best makes me laugh. Yip he's a decent player no doubt, but he aint no Mikey/Egan/Spillane/Murice Fitz and of course our Gooch to name but a few. That s not including the nonKerry greats who I would regard to be better than Canavan. Matt Connor ect

Monday morning of All Ireland final week and I just spent the last twenty minutes reading through some of the papers - Tom Humphries quote on the Kerry press night on Friday is priceless "Imagine being in Killarney at nine o'clock on Friday night for the Annual Festival of Yerra which is the Kerry press night".
The nerves are up, only six days to go. Feck it, I've no hope of getting any work done this week.

Ok, well, we're into the final week at last...as ASA says, not much work'll get done this week. Reading the papers yesterday and seeing Mickey Hartes quote from his pre-match speech in 2003..."This is a game for getting your retaliation in first" brought it all back. I'm very much with Launedawg on this one. Its time to do it again. I can see Tyrone reverting to 2003 tactics on the basis that they'll take their chances on winning a dogfight. They'll definitely have a change in tactics from the Armagh games and the 'getting your retaliation in first' seems the most likely to me. I think we'll be ready whatever tactics are thrown at us.

Don't have access to it, I think my former employer copped on that I was the one renewing their subscription to the Irish Times online so they changed the password or something! Had to read it the old fashioned way.

1. Its seems to me that there is is a bit of paranio (Spellcheck!!) amongst certain certain Kerry fans that Tyrone will be out to kill the game from the start.
2. Agreeing with what vman and Big Mac said, this Tyrone team is more than capable of beating Kerry playing football.
3. The chance of Kerry full back line holding Mulligan, O Neill and AN oTHER depends greatly on the quality of ball going in. I think Kerry have the players to prevent Tyrone getting good clean ball
Prediction Kerry 1 12 Tyrone 0 12
It ll be great to see order completely restored in the SW region: Cork Kerry double!! I d say there is a lot of people with that Doubole since early in the year

Yes, Dermot...are you saying we shouldn't be worried? Newspaper reports indicate nervousness/tension among the players in Kerry and calm confidence amonst the Tyrone players....probably similar feelings amongst Kerry supporters as our players have. Not sure what its like in Tyrone.

I know I'm comparing apples and oranges here, but I seem to remember that the Mayo camp were very relaxed and confident and the Kerry contingent were far from it around this time last year as well. Hopefully that is a good omen for us!

One of the journalists who turned up on Friday night in Killarney noted that the Kerry lads were noticably more tense than last year.
Still, no word of Tyrone heading into a full training camp or anything of the sort like last year.

just saw joc on six one. he was asked if he considered bringing the lads to dublin to train, which is apparantly what tyrone did this wkend. he winked, and said "they've been down there so many times this summer u'd think they'd be well used to it". a timely reminder and dig that they've taken a long route to croker this year. good man jack, let the psychological warfare continue! ;D harte didnt say nuch, just remained non committal re whether canavan would start

Not sure what its like in Tyrone. I think its the same all over - I wouldn't put too much faith in what the press say ! The nerves (if there are any) of the players will fade a minute or two after the ball is thrown in !................Spectators like you and me though is a different matter !................... I fully expect to be Sh1**ing myself for approx 2 hours or so - Can't see it being any different ! Can't wait - Really looking forward to it - Hope there are no last minute stupid injuries or cold or such likes ! Now - I'm off as its time for the next rosary !

The ole butterflies well and truely going mad now. Expect productivity to be down 50% in Tyrone and Kerry this week - with a baby boom in Kerry in 9 months time. You guys will need the comfort of your wives and girlfriends while us Tyrone men will be on the session for the next month or so!!
Wheres the meeting place for the Kerry crowd next Saturday. Met Spillane once in the Burlo the evening before an AI final some years ago. He wasnt a bad sod but that was before he turned silly in his old age. Love the banter before the match espically the evening before the game. Grand value 2 years ago with the Armagh crowd. Will have to speak really slowly when we're speaking to the Kerry ones and if you lads could slow her down a bit as well that would be grand too.
Must admit that I didnt rate Tyrones chances all year but the game against Armagh in the first Ulster final made me take a bit of heed. Would love to have Hub and Ger Cavlan back in the mix and then I could perhaps be a bit more confident. As it stands I just dont know. Was happy going into the Armagh game 2 years ago but this game I just dont know!!!
Ticket allocation in Tyrone is crap. Our club has 480 members and we got 220 tickets and 148 of those were for the Hill and the rest are for the Canal end. No Cusack or Hogan tickets at all. Begs the question where the good stand tickets actually go to. I suppose the GAA know that they'll get rid of the poor tickets to the participating counties as us fools will take any thing going. I believe its the same situation in Kerry also. Well as long as you're there so thats the main thing.
