Definitely. I don't buy into the current "cult of the manager". Sometimes teams win or lose regardless of the line, and most managers are there because they care enough to plant their necks on the chopping block. There's an under-appreciated greatness and humanity about it. By the way, I think that's a great team selection. Win or lose (and be warned - Tipperary are good) that is the very best we have right now. I wholeheartedly agree with those sentiments, we should be grateful to have the man sacrificing his time and effort for the county cause and give him time to settle into the role. The very best of luck to the minors this evening, should be a good crowd in Tralee given the nice weather. It might even bring out the fine day supporter, though maybe not, too far away from September yet.....

"Players win all irelands, managers lose them" Probably not true but always in defeat the manager seems to get the blame and in victory he only gets a share of the credit.

lets hope the munster council have learned from their robbery of the u21 final and keep the price down tonight. 5 euro will be plenty for a minor match

Unfortunately cant see that happenin fiorgael.5 euro would be plenty but if they dont charge a tenner(at least) id be incredibly surprised..
Lets hope the minors can get plenty of vocal local support tonight.
Best of luck!

Full-time thank God!
Kerry 1-12 Tipp 2-7. Kerry much better but you'd wonder only for the great start we got! 1-4 to 0-0 up after 10 mins.
Ambrose reckoned at half-time one of the lightest Kerry teams he's seen.
Remembering the last couple of years it doesn't bode well for later in the year against say the Northern sides, especially looking at the Colman's side that hammered the Sem last Saturday.

It was like de ja vous with the Kerry v Tyrone senior league game a few weeks back-you could see it coming and then it happened again, thanks be there was no more time left. Reckon the Kerry lads learnt a lesson here

gbbuei, you got a point there about the lightness and physicality of the team; that was evident last year against Armagh in the minor semi-final

Firstly, congratulations to the Kerry minor team on their win.
Lack of size and physicality in general has been my major bugbear with Kerry minor teams over the last number of years. We needn’t just look to the Northern sides to see our minor sides bullied. Kerry minor teams have been bullied physically by Connacht and Leinster sides as well inside and outside Croke Park too often for my liking over the last number of years.
It doesn’t matter how skilful and fast you are, increasingly at inter-county level you must have size and strength in abundance in a title winning side. You can carry a couple of small lads but not many. The purest mightn’t like it but having skills is not enough if you’re being blown off the ball or are unable to win possession of the ball. Just watch – and cue the surprise in 2010 when we see another highly rated skilful Kerry minor team blown out of it physically. This recurring problem has been obvious for a number of years – I mean seriously how often do you have to hit your head off a wall?
