Kerry Minors are playing Kildare in a challenge tomorrow in UL, around 2-30 I believe.
Cork minors played Kildare at the weekend, from talking to a few of the kildare lads they were very impressed with a fella by the name of Hurley who was corner forward for Cork, (don't know what club he is from)he scored 9pts against Kildare. Cork won 16pts to 1-10. Apparently this young Hurley lad scored 2-6 in a previous challenge against Dublin.

Brian Hurley from Castlehaven. Meant to be a skilful player. I'm sure we shall come across him by the ''summer''

They are playing kildare tomorrow in a challenge and a 30 man panel has been picked. I believe there is roughly 10 from the sem on it. I hear gavan o'grady from glenbeigh is flying in training among others like pat kilkenny, conor cox, thomas hickey and fergal mcnamara. Not much of a shock with the panel picked but rather surprisingly oran clifford from waterville was left out and i felt he was a shoo-in. Was terrible to hear about colm galvin from lispole doing his cruciate, the man is a brilliant footballer and would have been pushing hard for a corner-back spot on that team maybe even centre-back. Well its not long till there out against tipp in a month so as their campaign begins tomorrow with that challenge i wish the best of luck to all involved for the year ahead.

Kerry beat Kildare by 2-16 to 2-9, Kildare were missing a few regulars, as I assume, were kerry. Eanna O Connor did most of the damage as did the Kerry midfielder who went into full forward, lads didn't know his name.

I was at the game in UL today .... Eanna was poor for one of senior members of the panal... damien somers played very well at midfield as did his partner from dingle... kerry cornor back was by far man of the match... Subs looked lively wen introduced.... i was impressed by thomas hickey from desmonds, great speed out of him.... Nice to see a few north kerry boys in ther.....

Theres a young man that plays with John Mitchels, Ciaran Deane, who is a top class footballer for his club and also the Green Frewen team who his head and shoulders above some of the above mentioned players for this years Kerry minor team.

I think its mostly left up to who ever is in charge of the minors from each club to send whoever they think is up to the standard of county minors, I sure not in all cases, but definately in the smaller clubs.

If he's still eligible for the Frewen, is he not a little young for the minors?

Was terrible to hear about colm galvin from lispole doing his cruciate, the man is a brilliant footballer and would have been pushing hard for a corner-back spot on that team maybe even centre-back. . That's very disappointing for him. Probably would have made the team at corner back. A big loss as well to Lispole/Aunascaul in Div 1 of the minor league as they take on the big guns. He'll still be a minor next year so hopefully he'll be back.

Ciaran deane is very good but for kerry minors this year he would be way out of his depth next year though he should get a shot although he does seem to be more commited to rugby then football. The team lined out against kildare as follows... 1.Padraig McCarthy 2.Pat Kilkenny 3.Fergal McNamara 4.David Culhane 5.James Walsh 6.Laurence Bastible 7.Jason Hickson 8.Damien Somers 9.George Durrant 10.Mark Reen 11.Marcus Mangan 12.Eanna O'Connor 13.Barry O'Dwyer 14.Gavan O'Grady 15.John Moynihan.... That was without the sem boys which is significant to remember.

Who is looking good from the Sem? I reckon Jeff O'Donoghue has some serious pace and could do damage at county level - only seen him once though anyone know what type of player he is?
Other i liked was Lucey but he didn't take many marks when i saw him which i had expected at his size. Also not convinced he has the pace off the mark and athletisicm for midfield but i could be wrong. How do people rate him?

It would be foolish to dismiss the Tipp. challenge based on the performance of an under 16 team two years ago. We have more recent evidence of the impact John Evans has had on the performance and confidence of Tipperary football. This will extend to the Minors too. Yes, our minors do appear to be a well drilled and prepared for the task ahead after a few good challenge games, but, under-age players can be unpredictable. It looks like the Sem players will not be involoved in the Tipp game. I suppose they would be emotionally drained after their game, regardless of the result. Also this is a 'round-robin' and a defeat (however undesirable) would not mean elemination at this stage.

I rate Sean McCarthy, Enda O'Sullivan, Chris Davies, Jeff O'Donoghue and Chris O'Leary for the Sem. Brendan Falvey and Cillian Fitzgerald are two great footballers but very light. Shaun Keane is young but well worth it - he made the panel briefly last year, as did Tom Moriarty. Sean, Shaun, and Jeff will really push hard, but I agree that the Sem lads won't be ready for the Tipperary game

Well i have been fortunate to have seen 2 of their challenges against kildare and clare where they were very impressive and taking into account the sem boys i would guess this team......... 1. Padraig McCarthy (Rathmore) 2. Pat Kilkenny (Glenbeigh/Glencar) 3. Fearghal McNamara (Austin Stacks) 4. Andrew Thompson (KOR) 5.James Walsh (Knocknagoshel) 6. David Culhane (Ballylongford) 7.Laurence Bastible (John Mitchels) 8.Damien Somers (St.Senans) 9.Shaun Keane (Legion) 10.Mark Reen (Rathmore) 11.Gary O'Leary (Kilcummin) 12.Chris O'Leary (Kilcummin) 13.Barry O'Dwyer (Waterville) 14.Gavan O'Grady (Glenbeigh/Glencar) 15.Eanna O'Connor (St.Michael's/Foilmore)........ Hope i didnt offend anyone but that is just my opinion from what i have seen. Others that have impressed me are george durrant, jason hickson, john moynihan and marcus mangan. I would like to see more of jeff o'donoghue before passing comment

Bit harsh on chris o'leary guys he may lack pace but he is a fine footballer all the same and strong as an ox. I agree with you 'zusse' the sem are not as great as they are being made out to be if u look at the kerry schools this year they were all on a par and it was the sem's ability to get goals that gave them the edge and a superb performance from shaun keane against colaiste na sceilge in particular. If I recall correctly the green gave the sem a good beating in the o'sullivan cup this year and also macroom were extremey unfortunate to lose in the corn ui mhuiri final, they were the strongest team in it if you ask me. Any other talent showing up in the minor leagues this year? I see hickson plays corner forward for annascaul can anyone tell me does he come out the field or does he actually stay in the corner? Interesting if so as I have only ever seen him in the half back line.
