I totally agree. I remember seeing him play in Parnell Park...I think it was against Armagh in the AllIreland U21 semi. He stuck out in my mind that year as one to make the grade.
Sad loss

Eugene McGrath was a handy minor form what I recall. Plays in Dublin now.

Liam Canty - One That Got AwayLiam Canty from Listowel was an absolutely brilliant player who never had the honour of playing senior for Kerry. He returned a number of years ago and is now running a very successful pub in Listowel. damn right hes runnin a very successful pub, i drank there tonight. cantys a heroe with unrivalled passion for the game, an outstanding full forward in his day too

Aidan Moynihan from John Mitchels, A foward with the ability to score with either foot that sold dummies to a lot of defenders in the county. In hard luck never to wear the county Jersey. Yeah he was a teriffic club player and still is.He is trying fierce hard to keep a sinking ship afloat.

Longtime reader, first time posting, surely Cirain "Bean" O Driscoll from Camp would have to be included, excellent corner back in his day, minor '94. 3 u/21 medals, and if had any interest would possibly have being corner back i '97? His cousin Johnny the "Pup" O Driscoll also in contention -very well respected back West!

Johhny played in '96 in the first round of the championship and came on in the AI semi defeat to Mayo if I remember correctly. He and Bingo probably would've been regulars thereafter if they didn't go stateside. I agree with you about Bean, though, if he had the interest!

Was there something about a fallout with Paidi or something that time?? Geni was very unlucky not to win an AI - if only he had Star giving him the ball Mark Moynihan & Vincent Knightly were great minors as well but never seemed to make the senior setup on a regular basis - what ever happened Vincent Knightly - he vanished from the sceen very young?

In fairness Geni was and still is a class act - very dedicated, Mark Moynihan, a great club man, I think "The Dazzler" and Paudi fell out alright, not sure the circumstances? pity about the Bean, a ledgend in his own right!!! Sean O'Mahoney Castlegregory great servant throughout the years, good to see him pick up some silverwear Sunday!!!

If its Vincent "shin" O'Connor from Dingle that you mean - he must have 3 or 4 senior all irelands during the golden years! He was very unlucky that Jacko & Seanie Walsh came along at the same time - a great man to get up for a high ball.

just answering about the annascaul contingent mentioned here
neil sheehy- played in league campaign 2000 and made a couple of appearances.unlucky not to have featured more genie- got terrible injury v down in league quarter final in croker 1997, broke leg badly, then went to states johnny and bingo- went to america vincent knightly- got run in league v cork but got torn apart by the cork corner forward. bean- couldnt commit to the team and even hid from paudi se once when he was rounding players up mark moynihan- was on panel one year 1997 i think pat flahive- unlucky not to have been in set up in early 1990's, gr8 full back

bean- couldnt commit to the team and even hid from paudi se once when he was rounding players up This reminds me of a story I was told about a lad I was playing with in London. He was from Mayo and after playing Minor he was fed up with football and wanted to quit. John maughan then called him up to play a challenge game but he got his mother to ring Maughan and say he was in bed sick. I doubt its true but still a good story

His grandfather just came up in another thread and it reminded me - Eanna Kavanagh of Dr. Crokes. Was just verging on the panel, I think her got a bad injury and then went to Australia for a while. Could be wrong on the details, but I remember him as a wingback of real potential

Could be wrong on the details, but I remember him as a wingback of real potential I think he might have got called into the squad at one stage. You are correct about him picking up a bad injury around that time. He went to London for work around then - pretty sure he lined out for London at some stage (possibly in the League - don't know about Championship) He's in Australia at the moment.
